Justin Kodua, the general secretary of the NPP, revealed that the party's defeat in the last general election was attributed to the impact of COVID-19. He made this statement during the NPP's 'Thank You' tour in Kumasi on April 29.

Following their unexpected loss, the party sought to understand the reasons behind their significant defeat. According to the general secretary, one of the key factors identified was the adverse effects of COVID-19.

He emphasized that the pandemic severely impacted their campaign, ultimately leading to their electoral loss.

To support his claim, Justin Kodua remarked, 'We acknowledge that prior to the 2024 general election, the poverty induced by COVID-19 in Ghana had a detrimental effect on the election outcome.'
