In Jigawa, a 20-year-old individual has fatally attacked his father with a machete. The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended Muhammad Salisu for the alleged murder of his father, Salisu Abubakar, in the Gwaram Local Government Area. According to SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the police spokesperson, the incident took place on Monday, May 5, 2025, when the suspect assaulted his father, causing severe injuries to his shoulder, neck, and chest. The attack occurred around 10 am in the Bakin Kasuwa Quarters of the Sara District. Adam's statement detailed that at approximately 10:00 hours, the command received information indicating that Muhammad Salisu, aged 20, had attacked his 57-year-old father, Salisu Abubakar, with a machete, resulting in significant injuries.
“On receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Sara and his patrol team were mobilised and rushed to the scene.
“The victim was evacuated to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Birnin Kudu for medical attention, but unfortunately, the medical doctor on call confirmed him dead. The corpse was later released to the relatives for burial.
“Meanwhile, the suspect was arrested and the exhibit recovered.
“The Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, psc, directs that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Dutse for discreet investigation.
“Upon completion of investigation, the suspect would be arraigned in court to face the full weight of the law.”
