Recent allegations suggest that her boyfriend, Edmond Ayemah, may have attempted to induce an abortion through dangerous and unconventional methods, which ultimately resulted in her death. This revelation contradicts his earlier assertion that her death was caused by an asthma attack. He had claimed that financial constraints prevented him from seeking immediate medical assistance for Gifty. Nevertheless, this explanation now seems to be a possible fabrication aimed at obscuring the alleged abortion attempt. Gifty's father has confirmed that she had visited home shortly before the tragic event to retrieve her school fees and personal items, stating that she intended to return to school, but instead went to her boyfriend's residence.
